He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Kernen and Evelyn Kernen (Grace); and his brother Joseph Kernen III. He is survived by: his wife Rosemarie "Rose" Kernen (Gelone); his children, Alan R. Kernen, Jr. (Theresa), Regina "Gina" I. Kernen Jansen and Mark V. Kernen (Jenny); his grandchildren, Lydia, Michael, Lucy, Celeste, Colson and Chloe; his sister Evelyn Reed (James); and his sister-in-law Carmella Trongone. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family asks for no flowers.
