He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Kathryn "Kay" L. Smerke (Enright); his parents, John J. Smerke and Dorothy A. Smerke (Sanderson); his daughter Kathryn Smerke (Ian Hochberg) of Fairfax, VA; his grandchildren, Whitney, Hailey and Nathan Hochberg; and his sister Barbara Endres.
