He was predeceased by: his parent Niel H. Nielsen; and his brothers, Niel M. Nielsen and Richard C. Nielsen. He is survived by: his wife Lorijane Nielsen (Cook); his parent Frances Nielsen (Rosenberg); his children, Joshua A. Nielsen, Zachary T. Nielsen and Casey M. Nielsen; and his grandsons, Conner and Cieran.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
