He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Ackerman and Dorothy Ackerman; and his siblings, Robert Ackerman, Raymond Ackerman, Leora Smith, Doris Ghrist and Ruth Ackerman.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Ackerman; his children, Richard Ackerman Jr. (Bernadette) and Sondra Ackerman (David Greer); his stepdaughters, Jen Smith (Philip) and Alyssa Carte (Brian); his grandchildren, Alexis Myers (Brandon), Chase Smith (Jenna), Bruno Yacoboni (Olivia), Christopher Kulisek, Stephen Carte and Jimmy Carte; his great grandchild Brexton Myers; his brother William Ackerman (Julie); and his sister-in-law Barbara Ackerman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Run for the Son through the Christian Motorcyclists Association or to Norvelt Union Church.
