He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew P. Akins and Eleanor Akins (Schrum); and his siblings, Mary Loretta, Mary Fidelis, E. Marie Watson (James), Mary Bernadette Marshall (James), Catherine Ann Beggs (Thomas), Janet McGuire (Donald), Francis (Garnett), Hugh, Gerald and Charles Akins.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Akins (Thomas); his sons, Brian (Kathy) of Houston, TX and Eric (Ami Jo) of Derry; his grandchildren, Meghan Osborne (Ryan), Emily Agans (Brendan), Cameron and Anna; his great grandchild Hughes Agans; and his sisters-in-law, JoAnne and Nira Akins (Nancy).
