He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Shoup and Ruby Shoup (Kibbe); his brother Mahlon; his sisters-in-law, Esther Shoup and Nancy Shoup; and his son William Robert Shoup.

He is survived by: his wife Beverly Jane (Corwin); his children, Jane Wendel (Jeffrey), Lisa Horn (Steven), Carol (Shutt), Dr. Daniel Guth, Scott and Susan Shutt (Allen); his brother John Shoup; and his mother-in-law Mildred Corwin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
