He was predeceased by : his parents, Harry Shay and Christine Rudy Shay; his daughter Dawn Marie Guerrisi; and his siblings, Gregory, Dennis Shay and Eleanor Peiffer.

He is survived by : his wife Barbara J. Hunsicker Shay; his sons, Timothy Shay and Anthony Kumiega; his grandchildren, Matthew Guerrisi, Daniel Guerrisi and Melissa Diabo; his brother Michael Shay; his nephew Scott Peiffer (Kim); his nieces, Kathy Peiffer, Laurie Shay and Kelly Shay; and his great-nieces, Teresa Campbell and Samantha Parmer. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
