He was predeceased by : his parents, John J. Shields Sr. and Mary Adele Shields (Shearon); and his son Shawn M. Shields. He is survived by : his daughter Jacqueline M. Van Gieson (David) of Sheppton; his brother Daniel P. Shields (Donna) of Weatherly; his nieces and nephews, Danielle Shields, Patrick Shields, Robin Walton (John) and Joe Sherman; his grandsons, Phillip J. Veet and Christopher A. Shields; his fiancée Karen Siegfried (Aggie); his fiancée's daughter Sara; and his extended family, Ray and Amy Kochin.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services (211 1st St, Weatherly, PA 18255). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
