Norma M. Welker Obituary
Norma Mae Welker, née Swift, passed away peacefully in Levittown, Pennsylvania, on August 29, 2026, with her loving daughter by her side. She was born on April 9, 1926, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, steady work, faith, service, and simple joys well loved.
A graduate of Shamokin High School, Norma went on to attend beauty school. After graduation, she opened her own beauty shop in Shamokin, where she worked for many years. Later, after moving to Morrisville, she worked for Educational Testing Services in Princeton for many years before retiring in 1977. She lived in Morrisville for 30 years before moving to Levittown 40 years ago, where she continued to build a life centered on family and community.
Norma was a woman of many interests and quiet accomplishments. She was active with the Boy Scouts of America and generously volunteered her time as a den mother. She was also a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lower Makefield, where she sang in the choir. She was an avid and voracious reader and found pleasure in knitting. She also loved traveling with her late husband throughout the United States, and together they visited all 50 states as well as Mexico and Canada. Those experiences reflected her curiosity, energy, and appreciation for the world around her.
Above all, Norma will be remembered for the love she gave to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Ann Vuono; her daughter-in-law, Ginny Welker; her granddaughters, Bryn Hartley and Brook Schatz; her grandchildren, Tucker, Calista, and Piper; her niece, Sandy Bingaman; and her nephew, Kenneth Swift. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of her warmth, strength, and enduring presence, and her love remains a lasting gift in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russell L. Swift; her mother, Helen M. Staub Swift; her husband, Clifford H. Welker; her brother, Robert Swift; and her sons, Glenn Welker and Richard Welker.
Norma's life was one of commitment, kindness, and deep family devotion. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faithful service, and love that will be remembered with gratitude and held close by all who knew her.
