She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles "Bucky" Hood and Sarah Hood (Logan). She is survived by: her daughters, Evelyn Lesko (Michael) and Nancy Crowe (Larry Kinsey); her sisters-in-law, Martha Hood and Carla Dee Sonson; her husband William "Jack" Shaffer; and her siblings, Jean Hershey and Floyd Hood. She is also survived by six grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
