He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Baker Gibbel and Lois Hershberger Gibbel; his brother John R. Gibbel; his grandmother Florence Baker Gibbel; his mother-in-law Esther F. Moyer Leatherman; and his siblings-in-law, George K. Biemesderfer, Ronald A. Moyer and Eileen Moyer Viau.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Moyer Gibbel; his children, Janice Sommerhoff (Udo), Joel Gibbel (Michele Moyer) and Ethan Gibbel (Meryl Reist); his grandchildren, Micah, Danielle Gibbel, Finley, Emmett and Shae Gibbel; his siblings, Joyce G. Biemesderfer and Henry H. Gibbel (Joan); and his sisters-in-law, Ann Gibbel, Sheila Doerr and Kathleen Good Moyer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
