He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leonard Cross and Ardis Mae Cross (Bennett); his granddaughter Brooklyn Cross; and his brother James Leonard Cross, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Paula V. Cross (Brauning); his sons, Vance A Cross of Keymar, MD and V. Heath Cross of New Oxford; his grandchildren, Brandon Cross, Alaura McKinney (Owen), Alexandria Drick (Hal) and Xavier Cross; his great grandchildren, Levi, Lily McKinney and Emma Cross; and his brother Larry Marlin Cross of Hagerstown, MD..
