He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Gaines Simpson and Adelaide Miller Simpson (Newkirk); and his sisters, Gloria Elliot, Jean Grossnickle and Bobbi Reed.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Simpson (Leist); his children, Lee Simpson, Scott Simpson (Karen), Sam Spangler (Elaine) and Angie Parham; his grandchildren, Tyler, Alyssa, Amanda, Alex, Sean, Grant, Kelsi, Hannah and Cole; and his great grandchildren, Cassie and Arlo.

Those wishing to honor Walt's memory may do so with a memorial contribution to the Adams County SPCA or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
