He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Katherine Helwig (Reaver); and his parents, Earl L. and Mary L. Helwig (Swenk). He is survived by: his son Malcolm E. Helwig (Lucy) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; his granddaughter Katherine Berry (Matthew); and his great grandchildren, Liam, Madelyn and Charlotte.
