He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Burns Smeltz, Sr. and Betty Jane Smeltz. He is survived by: his wife Debra Smeltz of Lock Haven; his children, Rob Smeltz III (Shelby Major) of Charlotte and Sarah Budd (Eric) of Lock Haven; and his sisters, Bobbie Green (Dick) of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Bonnie Detweiler (Jack) of Fishkill, Tammy Boone (Pat) of Milton, Vermont and Pam Wenner (Dave) of Carlisle, Pennsylvania..
A scholarship will be established to honor Pete's life and legacy, courtesy of The Keystone Central Foundation, for students of history and political science.
