He was predeceased by: his parents, Nick Abate and Rosa Angelina Abate (Catania); and his brother Nicholas Abate. He is survived by: his wife Debra Abate (Karch); his children, Steven D. Abate of Pittsburgh, PA, Anthony S. Abate of Washington, DC and Leanne Swickline (David) of New Bern, NC; his sister Rosemary Scheller (Jim) of Sewickley, PA; and his grandchildren, Osric, Calliope, Trinity, Catrina Abate, Joseph and Salvatore Swickline. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
