He was predeceased by: his parents, Enrico Spano and Louise Spano (Brusco); his wife Sarah Jane Spana (Penvose); and his siblings, Henry, Louis, David Spana and Mary Mielecki.

He is survived by: his children, Patrice Majeran (Ron) of Vandergrift, Joseph Spana (Elaine), Christina Benson (Neal) of Pittsburgh, Richard Spana (Emily) and Eric Spana (Dauna); and his sisters, Gina Spana of Lower Burrell and Anna Boyd of Washington Township. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
