He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Samuel Hammond and Virginia M. Boggs Hammond Barrick; and his stepfather James Barrick. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Kaye Alleman Hammond; his daughter Sherri Lynn Hammond-Esh (David); his siblings, Robert "Tinker" Hammond and Kimberly Neil (Amos); and his nephew Todd Neil.
