He is survived by: his wife Karen Merhar; his children, Scott Merhar (Anne), Kevin Merhar (Colleen) and Kristin Clennan (Ryan); his grandchildren, John, Patrick, Brendan, Allison, Kendall, Zachary, Taylor and Lindsey; his brother Ken Merhar (Linda); and his nieces, Katie, Erin and Becky.
