He was predeceased by: his parents, Merton W. Saunders and Theresa M. Saunders (Patt); his son Mark; his siblings, Jacqueline Gitchell (Bud), Stanley and Merton; and his brother-in-law Curt Sweely.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Sweely; his children, Kristie L. Saunders of Mansfield and Donavon Saunders (Catherine) of Trout Run; and his grandchildren, Colt and Olivia Saunders. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
