He is survived by: his children, Eric Contakos (Jenny) of Pittsburgh, Jim Contakos (Christina) of South Park, Chris Contakos (Sarah) of Greenwood, SC and Kate Contakos (Chris Mera) of New York, NY; his grandchildren, Sly Mera-Contakos, Nika Contakos and Mathew Puckey (Rebecca); his sibling's children, Greg Haretos, James Contakos, Will Green, Stephanie Shoemaker and Melissa Dersham; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Charlea, Chloe Yonan, Carson and Tyron Shoemaker; his sisters-in-law, Judi Dersham (Chuck), Kim Seidel (Dennis), Stacy Green (Doug) and Shelly Johnson; and his cousin Pete.
