He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter F. Garda and Violet Garda; and his brother Walter Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Garda; his children, Brant Garda (Jessica) and Brenna Hamming (Nicholas); his sister Shelley Watts (David); his grandchildren, Abigail, Madeleine Garda, Logan and John Peter Hamming; and his nephew Tras Watts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jan's name to the American Cancer Society.
