He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Nelson and Julia Nelson (Foust); his daughter Christine Merchbaker; and his granddaughter Heather Renninger. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Freeman; his children, Michele Renninger (Jim) and Walter Owen Nelson (Jenelle); his grandchildren, Jay (Eric), Melissa, Trestan (Brady) of Trelyn, DJ, Trevis, Josh and Trent; his stepgrandchildren, Cheyanne, Gabby, Brianna and Caleb; his great grandchildren, Joey and Christopher; his great great grandchild Westin; and his sisters, Janet Pazey, Sally Chason, Ethel Nelson and Darlene Shearer (Dan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
