He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Porta and Geraldine Zaccardo La Porta; and his brothers, Frank, Joseph and Arthur La Porta.
He is survived by: his wife Roxanna Swift; his children, Dr. Edward La Porta (Patricia), Lisa Nolin (Jeff) and Dr. Thomas La Porta (Lisa); his granddaughters, Alicia La Porta of Walnut Creek, CA, Christina Nolin of Maple Grove, MN, Rebecca Van Valey (Chris) of Manhattan, IL, Abigail and Sophia La Porta; his great grandchildren, Liam and Teagan Van Valey; and his brother Attorney Alfred La Porta of Croton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
