She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy James and Minnie Estella Santymire Leach. She is survived by: her daughter Beverly Apple Tina Cline (Gardner Marshall); her husband Edward L. Dayhoff; her son Duane Apple; her son-in-law Michael Cline (Tina Cline); and her siblings, Junior, Russell, Eldridge, Lorraine, Midge and Rita. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Charlotte participated in health studies at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and made numerous donations to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
