He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Boyer and Myrtle Boyer (Hauck); his wife Linda Chambers; and his siblings, Roy "Jake" Boyer, Earl "Curly" Boyer, Glen "Pete" Boyer, G. Robert "Bob" Boyer, Elva Mae "Sis" Renshaw and Jean Miller.

He is survived by: his daughters, Bethanne Boyer, Wendy Sauers and Amy Boyer; his grandchildren, Katy (Bradley Wevodau) and Ryan Sauers; and his great grandchildren, Alaina, Silas, Benjamin and Caleb Wevodau.
