He was predeceased by: his wife Ann Butler (Petticrew); his siblings, Eugene Butler (Mary) and Marilyn Doud (Dick); and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Butler and Lorraine Butler.
He is survived by: his children, Lois Heater (Larry) of Lawrenceville, PA, Linda Schaar (Dave) of Cayuta, NY, Steven Butler of Elmira, NY and James Butler (Heidi) of Millerton, PA; his grandchildren, Amy DeLozier (Jason), Melissa Letts, Christina Koser (Dean), Tanya Smith (Brad), Joseph Butler (Tiffany) and Colby Butler (Silvia); and his brother Neal Butler of Elkland, PA. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. (637 S Main St, Mansfield, PA 16933). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at the Farmington Hill Cemetery (754 Learn Rd, Tioga, PA 16946).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Farmington Hill Cemetery, 688 Farmington Hill Road, Tioga, PA 16946, or to the Millerton Food Bank, PO Box 177 Millerton, PA 16936.
