He was predeceased by: his parents, Hardie Merrell and Thelma Merrell (Hoffman); and his brothers, Marlin, Donald and Dennis Merrell.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryk; his son Jeffery Merrell of Vermont; and his stepchildren, Leslie Stewart (Muffley) of Erie and Ryan Muffley of Iowa. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
