Aida Pacella Obituary

Aida DeBellis Pacella passed away on November 26, 2021. She was 100 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pascal (Pat) Pacella, her sister Delia Gerace, brother Armond DeBellis, and her daughter Diane Glasser. She is survived by her sons Roger (Sandy) of Berlin Maryland and Steven (Peggy) of Coraopolis and grandchildren Stephen Pacella of Corvallis, Oregon, Marc Pacella of Coraopolis, and Michael (Rachel) Pacella and Rachael Pacella of Baltimore, Maryland.

She leaves behind a large, loving Italian-American family to which she was devoted and to whom she was an example of quiet strength. Aida was born in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Louis DeBellis and Frances Aloise DeBellis, and spent her youth in the East Liberty Section of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Westinghouse High School and The Pennsylvania College for Women, now Chatham College.

After her marriage to Pat, she raised her family in the South Hills and was a dedicated mother and daughter and faithful servant to her church and community. For many years, she was a member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church. Later in life she moved to Coraopolis to live with her son, her loving daughter-in-law, and grandsons.

The family wishes to thank the staff at West Hills Rehabilitation Center for their gentle care in her last few years. Aida was proud of her Italian-American heritage. She spoke French and Italian fluently and was a long- time season ticket holder to the Pittsburgh Opera. Her devotion to her daughter during an extended illness provided to all who knew Aida an extraordinary example of love and commitment.

Throughout her life, Aida maintained a positive attitude, never complaining, always concerned about others before herself. She will be missed by her extended family and all who knew her. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Copeland Funeral Home 981 Brodhead Rd. Moon, Twp, PA.
