He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Buttenschon and Grace Buttenschon (Seidel); his siblings, Alcy Madaras, Hilda Buttenschon, Bessie Lotoski, Sandra McLoughlin, Louis, Maynard, Albert (Mike) and Richard; his parents-in-law, Mary and Paul Schafer; his brother-in-law Paul Schafer (Teddie); and his nephew Michael Buttenschon.

He is survived by: his brother Mike; his sister-in-law Joanne; his nieces, Diane, Susan and Carol; his wife Alice Schafer; his children, Robin (Don), Christopher (Mark) and Corey; his grandsons, Andrew (Nicole) and Daniel Neely (Kelsey); his great grandchildren, Benjamin, Hayden, Paisley and Autumn Neely; his sister Sandy; his brother-in-law George; his nieces and nephews, Walter, James, Robert, Donald, Dennis, Linda and Karen; and his sister-in-law Nancy Buttenschon of Marcy, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Please do not send flowers to his residence. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to any of the environmental charities including the Sierra Club Foundation, World Wildlife Fund and Nature Conservatory or many others.
