With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Herman P. Mattern Jr. of Moscow, Pennsylvania, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman P. Mattern Sr. and Kathryn Mattern (Wheeler); his wife MaryAnne Mattern (Shaffer); and his brothers, Robert and Edward Mattern.
He is survived by: his children, Chrissy L. Cook (Donald) of Madison Township and Lawrence G. Shaffer (Laura Lee Lakes) of Moscow; and his grandchildren, Larry A. Shaffer of Moscow and Katrina M. O'Neill of Moscow. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Fairview Memorial Park (111 State Rte 435, Elmhurst Township, PA 18444).
