He was predeceased by: his parents, John S. Bender and Myrtle Frey Bender; and his brothers, John and George Bender. He is survived by: his wife Lois L. Glatfelter Bender; his children, Douglas L. Bender of Mount Joy and Deborah A. (Keith Barninger) of Elizabethtown; his grandson Chad (Ally Barninger); and his stepgreat-granddaughter Kaylinn.
