He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos E. Schmidt and Mable E. Schmidt (DeLaMater); and his brother Jay Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Catherine M. Schmidt (Stinemire); his children, Marjorie Cicala (John) of Middle River, MD, Robin Yommer, Robert Schmidt (Wendy) of Forest Hill, MD, Merle Lee Schmidt, Jr. (Alice) of Overlea, MD, Neva Duley of Perry Hall, MD, Sherry Ellenberger (Ralph) of Mount Joy, George E. Rye and Cindy Wilson of York; and his sister Lois Campbell. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
