He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther H., Sr. and Reba Lefever Barrett; and his grandson Riley. He is survived by: his wife Renee C. Simmons Barrett; his children, Valarie Grube (Jeff), Gay Erb, Jill McKain and Christopher Barrett (Tina); his stepsons, Troy Heisey (Holly) and Chad Heisey (Missy); his sister Judith Shenk; his sister-in-law Pat Barrett; and his siblings, Beatie, Jim and Patsy.

A graveside service was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Mountville Cemetery (274 Orkney Rd, Mountville, PA 17554).
