He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward John and Goldie Marie Summerhill Shirley; his sister Judith Shirley Hilty; and his nephews, Blair and Blaine Hilty.
He is survived by: his wife Carole J. Whisner Shirley; his children, Dale Shirley (Cynthia) and Donna Fackler (Charles); his grandchildren, Deanna Camut (Joseph), Dana Grimes (Matthew) and Derek Shirley (Sequoia); his stepgrandsons, Ryan Srnik (Megan), Korie Fox (Zachary) and Kyle Fackler (Katelyn); and his great grandchildren, Audriana, Axton Camut, Hudson, Addison, Colton, Auston Grimes, Hazel Shirley, Margot Fox, Grayson and Easton Fackler. He is also survived by four nieces and nephews and their spouses.
