Sylvia M. Getty Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 16, 2025, at the age of 88, Sylvia M. Getty of Murrysville, Pennsylvania passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Hanka and Helen Hanka (Peretin); her brother John Hanka, Jr.; her husband Benjamin H. Getty; and her sons, Benjamin C. Getty and Matthew J. Getty.
She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Getty (Donna) of Greensburg, Scott Getty (Ann) of Washington Township, Denise Getty-Olson (James Olson) of Park City, UT and Amy Getty Rogers (Jeffrey) of Kernersville, NC; and her sister Jeanne Burtoft (Edward) of Durham, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hart Funeral Home (3103 Lillian Ave, Murrysville, PA 15668). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Mother of Sorrows Church (4202 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville, PA 15668). A burial was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 at the Murrysville Cemetery (3219 N Hills Rd, Murrysville, PA 15668).
