He was predeceased by : his father Joseph Tidman Berg; and his grandparents, Joseph A. Berg, Frances T. Berg, Jane McKinney Allen and Dr. Homer Richard Allen.

He is survived by : his wife Mikki Lynn Berg (Lovlie); his son Joseph Andrew Berg, Jr.; his mother Emily Jane Allen Benn (Bill Benn); his sisters, Melissa J. Merritt (Gary) and Patricia L. Monaco (Sam); his parents-in-law, Mary and Arne Lovlie; his siblings-in-law, Molly G. Gill and AJ Lovlie (Vanessa); his nieces, Annastasia Merritt, Giada Monaco, Guiliana Monaco, Savannah Gill and Avelyn Lovlie; and his nephew Jeffery Merritt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
