He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Smith and Laura Irene Smith (Fishel); and his brother George W. Smith, MD. He is survived by: his wife Janet Smith (Hetherington); his children, Douglas G (Cindy Stewart) of Goldsboro, Jeffrey R. (Tammy) of Reading and Sara E. Mackey (Jon) of York; his sister Sharon Reed of Glen Burnie, MD; his grandchildren, Taylor, Codi, Ashton and Joshua; his stepgranddaughter Maddie; and his great grandchild Maxwell.
