He is survived by: his wife Emma Marie Gilpin (Lockard); his children, Gene E. Gilpin Jr. of New Paris and Lacey J. Gilbert (Brandon) of New Paris; and his grandchildren, Emma C. Bower and Geney E. Gilbert.
