He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Earl Barefoot and Pauline Hostetler Barefoot; and his siblings, James Barefoot, Dorothy Windham, Lola Mae Felton, Daniel Ray Barefoot and Mary Jane Rizzo.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Allison Barefoot; his children, William Earl Barefoot and Elizabeth Barefoot; his grandchildren, Emma Noelle Graden, Robert Liam Williams and Joshua Dylan Williams; his siblings, Kay Dull and Arthur J. Barefoot; his former wife Theresa Held Barefoot; and his friend Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joe's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
