He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore F. Moerman and Catherine E. Moerman; and his siblings, Ted Moerman (late Mercedes) and Bernadette of Lourdes, IHM.. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Moerman; his children, Michele Moerman, James Moerman, Jr. (Judy) and Francine Greiner (Tim); his grandchildren, Catherine Byrne (Joshua), Veronica Onimus (David), James Moerman (Nicole), Joseph Moerman, Thomas Greiner, Teresa Greiner, Christopher Greiner (Katerina), Theodore Greiner, Mary Greiner and Peter Greiner; his great grandchildren, Madeline Byrne, Emma Byrne, Griffin Moerman, Molly Onimus and Dara Onimus; and his brother John Moerman (Mary). He is also survived by many his nieces and nephews.
