“Michael Mattie served as a CH-46E Sea Knight Pilot in the Marine Corps, assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 261. We deployed aboard USS Guam and flew under combat conditions in Grenada (Operation URGENT FURY) and in Beirut, Lebanon as part of the Multi-National Peace Keeping Forces. He was a skilled pilot and flew numerous missions in support of our Marines on the ground. Despite serving under these conditions, he always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone around him.”
