He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira A. Hockensmith and Daisy E. Hockensmith (McMullin); and his wife Betty Lou Hockensmith (Spahr). He is survived by: his children, Joel W. Hockensmith (Susan) of Charlottesville Va, Terry A. Lopp (John) of Newville, Shane W. Hockensmith (Kelley) of Charlotte, NC and Ryan L. Hockensmith (Patti) of Poland, OH.; and his grandchildren, Sarah, Adam, Daniel, Isaac, Rachel, Hannah, Corbin, Jacob and Philip.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that all donations be made to Newville First Church of God.
