He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Abata and Virginia Abata (Vaccaro); his former wife Marilyn Abata; his wife Maebeth Abata; his brother Mike Abata; and his brother-in-law Joe Schaff.
He is survived by: his daughters, Marilyn Konopka (Mark) and Melanie Johnson (Jim); his sister Marcia Orschek (Tom); his sisters-in-law, Sally Abata, Joan Schaff and Sue Corbran (Paul); his grandchildren, Holly Murphy (Matt) and Kelly Konopka (Craig Shaffer); and his great grandchildren, Jackson and Gavin Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
