He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert O. Karl and Agnes Karl (Kreisher); his wife Marilyn J. Karl (Newell); his children, Suzanne Poteste and Michael J.; and his daughter-in-law Karla.

He is survived by : his sons, Robert D. (Mercedes) and Eric (Paula); his son-in-law Robert Poteste; and his sister Marcella Boruch. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
