He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas O'Brien and Florence O'Brien (Watkins); his wife Betty O'Brien (Landers); his stepson Robert Little; and his brothers, Thomas and Charlie O'Brien.

He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Sherry, Trish and Rhonda; his son Richard; and his sister Maureen Doerr. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
