He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Bernard W. Rottschaefer and Ellen Schock Rottschaefer. He is survived by: his spouse Betti Rottschaefer (Colfer); his children, B. J. Rottschaefer (Kimberly), Amy Conoscenti (Matthew), Maureen Long (Douglas), Audrey Hayward and William L. Rottschaefer (Maryia); his grandchildren, Marie Rottschaefer (Charlie Weber), B. David Rottschaefer, Alec Mollish, Jack Rottschaefer, Max Mollish, Abagail Hayward, Thomas B. Conoscenti, Alex Hayward, Nicholas Conoscenti, Hamilton Long, Zachary B. Rottschaefer and Jacob Rottschaefer; his sisters, Dr. Susan Rottschaefer and Ellen Olson (James); and his brother-in-law Gerard W. Colfer (June).
