He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Shafer and Alma Shafer (Fehnel); his daughter Gwen Shafer; and his siblings, Edwin, Carl, Larry, Harry Jr., Allan, Howard Shafer and Mary Jane Ricker.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn (Drumbore); his daughter Zoe Shafer of Wilson Borough; his son-in-law Benjamin Braskie of Wilson Borough; and his sister Arlene Finken of Bangor. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
