He was predeceased by: his parents, Agnes Black (Pasch) and James Black; his wife Ann Louise Hevner; his daughter Shirlee Frey; and his siblings, James Black and Shirley Beasley.

He is survived by: his children, William Black, Jr. (Cathy), Agnes "Cookie" Black and Valerie Black; his brother Joe; and his grandchildren, Taylor (Ali), Will, Jennifer, Chuck, Muriel, Connie and Julian.
