He was predeceased by: his wife Mary DeGasperi; his daughter Louise Kapfer; his sister Donna; and his parents, Helen DeGasperi (Ensslin) and Adam DeGasperi.
He is survived by: his daughters, Marie Schwartzmeier (Norm) and Elda Bertan (Rich); his grandsons, Jim Schwartzmeier (Emily), Dominic Bertan (Nicole) and Benjamin Bertan; his great grandchildren, Lexie and Thomas Schwartzmeier; his nieces, Renee Bagley (Garrett) and Treva; his nephew Rob Reichert; his family, Ann Ackley-Fifer (Joe), Julia Dearborn (Chad), Serenity Asbury, Alex Hafner, Paige, Ryann O'Connor, Bella and Chaz Dearborn; his caregiver Holly Clark; Paige Bagley and Elizabeth Jane Detweiler. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
